Our garden is in full bloom right now..a wild bloom unlike the early start to the past spring. Here is a bench in the corner of the garden- it's a great place to sit and watch bees, butterflies and birds.

So, you live in SUBURBIA and you feel like you'll never get that "country feel" to your garden? We live in suburbia too, and one solution to a chain link fence is a great plant called a Silver Lace Vine, or Polygonum (Fallopia) aubertii - This is its second year and now I have to walk around it to speak with my neighbor! You'll notice a mirror- we have one on each side so both yards get a great view and a secret garden mirror element! Find two mirrors the same size, and wire them to each side of the fence, back to back. We found these at TJ Max for $12 each!

We had the first snow here in New Jersey today- the garden always looks different this time of year- you can get a feeling for the layout and placement of plants but the bursts of color are gone until spring.

Three more days and spring will be here - hard to tell here in the northeast though- here is a view of one of our garden beds. By the way, it's time to start your seeds indoors now- so get planting!

Now is the time to order your garden catalogs, and make good use of your local library to read some useful gardening books. Start making sketches of your garden- it's a great time to plan out what new plants you might want to purchase. And March is usually the time to start flowers and vegetables from seed, so think about what new varieties you might want to plant in your garden!

Well, frost has finally hit here in New Jersey, but in our gardens we still have one plant flowering... called Monkshood or Friar's cap, named for the resemblance of the flowers to Monk's cowls. It is also sometimes referred to in folklore as 'Wolfbane' yes, the same plant from the old werewolf stories! How timely as Halloween approaches! We love the beautiful blue color.

Also now is a good time to think about getting some houseplants for your indoor gardens- winter is around the corner so get some green plants inside your homes and offices now. Plants are great for cleaning the air and creating a peaceful environment.
